Barbara Cleff  ___  artist, choreographer, teacher/cultural education

 

Künstlerin, Choreographin und Dozentin gestaltet ihre Arbeiten und Projekte für Theaterbühnen, Museen und urbane Räume. Sie wurde 1961 in Wuppertal geboren und studierte an der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, der ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnheim (NL) und cod arts Rotterdam (NL). Sie arbeitete als choreographische Assistentin mehrere Jahre für u.a. Susanne Linke, Theater Bremen, war Regieassistentin und Trainingsleitung am Theaterhaus Jena, u.a. mit Claudia Bauer, Rainald Grebe, Sandra Hüller. Residenz/Stipendium bei Pact Zollverein 2014. Sie inszenierte den künstlerischen Beitrag zur Verleihung des Reinhard Mohn Preises der Bertelsmann Stiftung 2016. Barbara Cleff arbeitet in nationalen wie internationalen Kontexten, entwickelt und leitet Partizipationsformate, Inszenierungen in unterschiedlichen Kooperationen, Performances und Installationen mit Medienkünstlern und Musikern u.a. am Theater Basel, am Theater Dortmund, dem Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, dem Consoltheater Gelsenkirchen und dem Lehmbruck Museum Duisburg. Seit 2011 ist sie daneben Referentin in der Weiterbildung, Kulturgeragogik an der Fachhochschule Münster.

Barbara Cleff’s  work is situated in theatre, musea and urban spaces.

Her projects and ideas connect people from all walks of life with dance, movement and art.

Barbara was born in Wuppertal, Germany, studied at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnheim and Codarts Rotterdam.
Assistant choreographer at the Bremen Dance Theatre for several years (direction Susanne Linke and Urs Dietrich); artistic assistant to Joachim Schlömer at Theater Basel, assistant director and head of body training at Theaterhaus Jena.
Since ‘Paloma’ staged at Theater Basel, Zwitserland, in 2000 responsible for a huge number of projects and shows with mature adulds and perfomances connecting different generations. As artistic director/choreographer of the ‘Senior Citizens Dance Theatre Company’ Ballett Dortmund/Theater Dortmund, she was responsible for three pieces:

‘da sein’, ‘paradiso’ and ‘stunden-weit’, all of which were premiered at the Schauspielhaus Dortmund .

“space-01”, realised at Ringlokschuppen Ruhr and WHOom at Lehmbruck Museum Duisburg are recent examples for projects/performances which focus interplay between the medium of dance, media, theatre, and other artistic forms. Since 2011 she has been a teacher for dance in the Certified Training Course “Kulturgeragogik” at University of Applied Sciences Münster.
